In 2005 I was due to start an MA in the History of the Manchester Region at Manchester Metropolitan University. But, when the course was cancelled at the eleventh hour, I enrolled on the Creative Writing MA. This decision proved to be a turning point. I had, in fact, been involved with writing classes and a writing group for many years, but now faced the challenge of writing my very own novel and CAPPUCCINOS was the result.

In February 2014 I gained my PhD in Creative Writing. The course involved writing a second novel which is entitled CARRINGTON'S. The title of my research is ‘Fiction Writing: How closely related or divergent are the processes of planning and creativity?’

I now teach creative writing with the South Manchester U3A and am currently writing a new novel about life in a hotel.
